Book of the Week for 9/12/07

Justice League of America: Wedding Special # 1
Story: Unlimited - Chapter 1: Injustice League
Words: Dwayne McDuffie
Art: Mike McKone

This is kind of Justice League of America # 12.5 Its the first part of McDuffie's run on the Justice league. Part of the issue is dedicated to the Green Arrow's Bachelor Party/Black Canary Bachelorette Party, other half of the issue is dedicated to the new Injustice League. If any of you saw the final season of Justice League Unlimited (which is sad if you havn't), you'll notice a lot of similar story elements, as he ran that show while it was on. They use a new version of the old Legion of Doom HQ, now called the Hall of Doom. They also have an alarming assemblage of super-villains shown off on a nice 2 page spread, Luthor, Joker, Grodd, Poison Ivy, Major Force, etc.

Besides aping some of the JLU concepts. He also pokes fun with a lot of what Meltzer did in his run. The books starts off as a slight parody of the first issue of JLofA, with Luthor, Joker, and Cheetah sitting around using Polaroids of villains to decide who they want in their gang. Not to mention McDuffie made it well known that he disagreed with Geo-Force's inclusion on the roster, which is addressed.

The issue is just a lot of fun and actually funny without being silly, which is something McDuffie has proven he's good at with JLU and Fantastic Four so far. Cameos's galore and the essence of every character coming through even in the smallest of instances, and Firestorm plays a prominent role..and perhaps joining the league???(a man can dream can't he) Also McDuffie's favorite Green Lantern takes over for Hal in this story, but at least talks about it, and it actually makes sense.

I sadly don't have much to say about the art, other than its fantastic, and I wish Mike McKone was doing the actual Justice League Book. He draws each panel with detailed backgrounds and his faces are so expressive. Not to mention getting to see him draw so many different heroes. He draws a mean Adam Strange and Mr. Miracle.

A great issue, a lot of fun to read, nice to look at, and what looks to be the start of a great fun story. And I guess I have to find out what mike McKone is doing next.

X-Men: Some Assembly Required

Got my hopes up this weekend, when Marvel released the above image, implying they were going to do something drastic to the X-Men, along the lines of what they did to Avengers, restarting at #1, new direction, new team. Which of course got me interested, as X-Men used to be all I read, but lost interest in recent years. Then on Monday they released these.

They havn't yet said what they will be doing with the core X-titles. But they did let us know of what the New X-titles were gonna be *Sigh* a New Cable and X-Force series. And here I was hoping this meant they'd be cutting down on X-Books. I really think they need to get it down to 1 or 2 books, refocus things, then branch out again. Get everyone back up to speed again.

Oooh X-Force, the only X-book I never read regularly ever, because they just seemed lame to me. Back in the 90's they were eXtreme and badasses, and now it looks like their eXtreme and badass again. I mean they are all wearing black, so you know they are tough. I mena if Wolverine is good, this team has X-23 as well, thats like 2 Wolverines!!

They also realeased a Cable image which has him looking like all his 90's glory, with Marvel saying it will be like no other book they publish. But I personally don't care, I've never liked Cable, don't see a need for him anymore. He represents everything complicated and rediculus about the X-Men.

*Deep breath*

The son of Cyclops and a clone of Jean Grey, infected with a Techno virus as a baby, so he was sent to the future ruled by Apocalypse where he was kind of cured and was raised by the daughter of Cyclops and Pheonix from an alternate future who was lost in the timestream. Back to Cable, he was sent back in time now a middle aged man 0to destroy Apocalypse to prevent the future he was raised in did not happen. I promise that was all from memory. Just to show my X-Men cred, heh.

Why is it when these Alternate timeline characters show up, once the future is fixed, they don't disappear since they shouldn't exist anymore. Rachel Summers, Cable, Bishop. Could have made things much simpler if they had disappeared, when their story was over. I recently read the year long space story in Uncanny X-Men, I loved it. Some characters stayed in space, and the reason even made sense. And I think it was a good way to take some characters that were overly complicated, kind of lost in purpose over the years, and get rid of them, but not kill them needlessly. Havok, Polaris, and Rachel Summers. I could go into their histories and why its a good thing they are off the table for now, but I'm sure if you read any wikipedia article you could see why.

This has become a rant, so I will end here. Tomorrow I might talk about Bendis, and his upcoming Secret Invasion. :-)

He is Iron Man!

If you haven't heard by now, the first Iron Man Trailer is out....(Pause for a minute to give you time to watch it)

And if I say so myself, it looks awesome!!! Not just because of the footage, but they played "Iron Man" the song. They set up Tony Stark, see him building something, then you finally see the suit, the riffs pump out, and its bad ass.

Yes the suit looks awesome, both of them, for different reasons. The Grey suit, or Mk.1, is huge, bulky, mean, its got flamethrowers, and its real. A real big honkin' metal suit kickin' ass. The Mk. 3 suit is sleek, sexy, and fast, better looking than i ever thought an Iron Man suit would look in real life.

They hired Adi Granov to help them design the suit. He does the best Iron Man images, so to see the red/gold suit actually look like hoe he draws them is fantastic.

This movie looks awesome so far, this is Marvel's first time making a movie on their own dime, with no other big studio telling them what to do. Anyone can make a great trailer, and I get excited about this stuff easilly. But right now, I'm stoked.

52 Pickup

Last Wednesday the DC Comics series 52 ended its weekly yearlong run. It followed the story of the missing year in DC Comics that took place at the end of last years Infinite Crisis, while all the other series became One Year Later (OYL) to get away from all the interconnected stories and create good jumping on points for new readers.

52 issues, costing fans 130 dollars, had four writers working in tandem guiding 7 storylines through their yearlong trip in real time week by week. Not to mention the countless artists, colorists, letterers, editors, and 1 very busy Cover artist, all so they can release over 4 years of comics in exactly 1. Not to mention that Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash were all taken off the table or at the very least reduced to very short cameos. Using C-list characters and making them interesting enough to be seen as A-Listers.

We got a new Question, at the expense of the old one, Black Adam gained and lost a family and the whole world payed for it, Steel proved that powers doesn't make you a hero, Animal Man went on an Odyssey, Ralph Dibny proved he was a great Detective and got his Wish, Doc Magnus proved he couldn't get his Metal Men back without breaking a few eggs, and Booster Gold saved not just his world, but 51 others.

But was it worth it? More on that later.

X-Men: Impossible?

In case your not aware, I'm kind of as aspiring comic book writer....heavy on the aspire, light on the writing so far. I've written a couple short stories, but in mainstream comics you rarely get to work on original properties. You work on more established characters, Spider-Man, Batman, Hulk, etc. So as kind of as exercise I like to think of what I would do, what stories would I write if given the keys to the castle as it were, what would I add to the "lives" of these characters.

My favorite growing up was always the X-Men, over the years I've had a few ideas of what I would do. I thought I might share them, and perhaps some of my others.

1)Powerless
My Plan was to have the X-Men lose their powers for a year, and just take the time to really explore how their powers have come to define them, and how living a normal life would be joyous for some, terrible for others, and others would just lose it. Plus just to see them try to handle powerful problems in crazy new ways without their powers, to prove that powers didn't make them heroes

Take someone like Rouge there are so many ways to play it, she could stay reclusive being so used to being unable to touch, she could go hogwild become a Wild Party Girl if you will, without her powers to manage the different thoughts of people she's touched, could drive her crazy. I'd like to see her become the wild party girl, she's never been able to touch so now she'd wanna be around people all the time, do things she hasn't been able to, and probably go overkill and make some decisions she's regret. It would be emotionally interesting and possibly a way to take her Ms. Marvel Powers away, the Invulnerability, Flight, Strength, make her character simpler, I mean she can always borrow those powers again from someone else, and that whats interesting about her power.

Wolverine I'd have him go and hide himself away, he has so many enemies who you know would take advantage of his situation, a lot of who he is is based on the fact he's not afraid because, he knows he's gonna survive take that away and he'd change...a lot.

Some examples, I've had this idea for a while and one writer did this story, kind of, he took all mutants powers away for about a year, but it was only a 3 issue story. We saw them lose them, then bam it was a year later and they went on a mission to get them back.

2)Total Relaunch
Now this one I came up with not as just a storyline, but just a total relaunch of concept. There being so many mutants (at least their were) and my hatred of leaving good characters on the sidelines so we can tell another Wolverine story, or having Jean Grey die again.

I'd have kind of a "final" story, basically give the X-Men the worst day they've ever had, having the team reasses if their needs to be an X-Men, or if their might be be better ways for them to spend their time, to help others. If their are no X-Men they can't be attacked. Some of the characters getting older and wantng to move on in their lives. Which would culminate in Xavier being to sick to be apart of it. Beast taking a hospital job, taking care of Xavier, and possibly ending in Xavier's death. If would end with them disbanding, decreeing "The X-Men are Dead". With the last panel being someone watching them on a monitor (in the shadows of course) saying "Long live the X-Men"

The next issue would take place like 6 months later, and begin with some mutant related hostage situation. We see Cyclops in a suit and tie in a government type building being informed of the situation, he then goes to his personal office with the breifing on the hostage situation. To which he starts debating to himself who he might need. And he contacts 4 of 5 specific mutants (or former X-Men) getting the breifest glimpse of what they've been up to since the X-Men. Then like Mission Impossible he selects a team of people with the talents he needs. They run a mission etc. Next mission another group of people. Just trying to feature many different characters, and eventually lead up to mysteries about "Agency X" and how it was formed who's in charge.

Just what I feel would be a much needed change, since the X-Men are generally a mystery group to the World at large, make them really stealthy, have them not really wear costumes, try to keep their identities secret as much as they can. Something I feel they haven't bothered with for a long time.

Thats all for now, I'm sad this post took as long as it did to make.

A Return to Form

Finally my triumphant return. After the downfall of TheYanni.Net I decided to resurrect my blog/journal from its remains to here on blogspot much like my friend Matty N. Now in the 6th Year of my blog, I hope to have finally mastered the medium.

With blogspot's archive links on the side (which is great) I've actually been going through my original posts, and editing them, because they are all one giant paragraphs, if I didn't know better I'd say I was drunk writing many of them. Plus just making them conform to Blogger standards, like adding titles to the posts, since the originals were updated by hand. Its like the new Director's Cut of my blog, plus its just fun to see what the hell I was thinking back then.

Right before the old website fell through I had started compiling topics I wanted to blog about, so I'm gonna try doing specific topics and such. But I will say also like Matty N I might end up with a specific theme for what I usually talk about. He talks about politics and successfully I might add, he's read by a lot of local political peeps.

And its well documented that I'm a big comic books fan, so that might well be a continuing subject. One of the few things I could talk for days about, plus I love doing the research. Well thats all for now, gotta goto work

Up, Up, and Away!

Well in case you didn't catch the idea from the title of this post. I will be talking a bit about the Last Son of Krypton, The Man of Steel, The Man of Tomorrow, Yes folks Superman. Now if your familiar with me you'll know I read a few comic books here and there, so I get pretty excited when one of these films come out. Now traditionally I'm not that big of a Superman fan, I had always liked him as a symbol not so much as a character, but lately thats changed. I've been reading the Superman monthlies for a little while now(since its actually been good), in the last 6 months watched all 5 seasons of Smallville(just finished this morning), purchased all 3 DVD collections of the Animated Series, purchased and watched the first 2 Superman movies for the first time since I was probably 12, and of course getting really excited about the movie, which I will be seeing later this evening. And yes I get a little overexcited about stuff like this. I usually bombard myself with material. When X-Men 3 came out, I busted out my Classic X-men comics...(and bought some new ones), rewatched the first 2 movies. Unfortunately I didn't have as much material available as I do for Superman.

I think the reason I'm really excited about the movie, especially after watching the original movies is just seeing Superman doing huge amazing superhero stuff.Because no movie has done that...or if they have havn't done it well. Lets look at them, X-Men was good, but played it pretty straight, X2 amped it up, but still all the fighting was done one on one in small confined areas. X3 at the end really did a great job of having a huge Superhero team batlle with teamwork and everything, but other than the bridge and the Pheonix effects nothing crazy, Hulk had good action scenes but not enough of them. Batman Begins a great movie but still a dude fighting dudes, same with Daredevil. The first 2 movies are good, but man the effects, I know they were good for the time back in 1980, but man I can't wait to see how they do everything. In the last couple months they've been releasing a lot of trailers for the movie, and with each one it looks more and more like what I've been waiting for (they showed a bullet bouch off his eye!). Plus whenever they play that John Williams Superman theme I turn into a 8 year old kid and get way too excited.

I want this movie to have the same kind of feeling I had watching King Kong this past Holiday season, it was a movie that needed to be experienced on a big screen, movies like that are why I goto the movies, they give you the spectacle and joy of seeing something that you can't see anywhere else. I better stop now before it becomes a gushfest about King Kong.

But damn it I want to believe a man can fly...again.
I'll be back tomorrow with a review.

Water Power!

Check out this video from YouTube of a news report:

A car that runs on water, absolutely amazing. If this technology works as well as it seems to, in about 10 years or so this could change everything. He's using it as a Water/Gas Hybrid in his car right now, in a car he kind of messed with himself. Imagine a car built specifically around this, Water is the fuel and when the reaction is done, it just turns back to water again. Set up a recycling system collects the water and puts it back in the tank. Not only is it going to run on water you'd also barely ever have to refill it. They say he's working with a major Car manufacturer right now to get this going, sooner the better. This guy just discovered his license to print money. This technology just really excites me because it really can change the world, even shift the balance of power and economics on a global scale.

I give up, just doin it simple

Well I finally got off my ass and got the site working, without any fancy PHP, Javascript, or AJAX. I just did it the old fashoned way. I just wanted it up and working again, looking nicely the way i wanted it. I still wish the AJAX and PHP back end worked the way I wanted them to, but for now...simple. Again its more of that stuff, that even if I got it to work none of you would ever know, because it would look and act the same, just more efficient on my end of things. But what you wanna do?

I want to switch hosting services over to GoDaddy, but until I get my finances straightened out I don't wanna mess with it. Since I obviously wanna keep the same domain name, I also gotta figure out how that works. With this host I lose my Control Panel login screen every month and its such a hastle. GoDaddy is cheaper, plus good customer service from what I hear.

Testing

Well lets see, after that last post I made for some reason my site stopped working in Internet Explorer, it didn't show the post, so I'm seeing if I make another post and kind of bump the other one down it will work correctly.

Batman vs. Osama

I saw this and pretty much had to talk about it.

Batman vs. Osama bin Laden

Now mind you this is not something I'd probably ever purchase...unless the whole world desides its the greatest thing ever produced. But I probably wont. Now if you were to think that this is a way to blatently call attention to yourself and intentionally cause controversy, then you would be right. But its certainly not unheard of, waaay back in WW2 both Captain America and Superman knocked out Hitler, heck Superman at one point even said it was ok to "Slap a Jap". But not since they tried to make Princess Diana a superhero and bring her back from the dead have I seen something like this in recent years.(Side Note: Marvel Comics gained a lot of flak for the Princess Diana thing, even before publication. So they made her hair black and changed her name to appease the complainers).

Both major comic book companies are based in NYC and both DC and Marvel have acknowleged that 9-11 happened in their universe. Marvel used Amazing Spider-Man to showcase that tragedy and provided a truely memorable and emotional story, given how close the attacks were to them how could it not be? DC has only really talked about it in there universe as a terrible tragedy, no actual issue where it happened. Just a few references from different characters.

The writer and Artist of this Graphic Novel is Frank Miller one of the most respected men in comics, for his character defining run on Daredevil and of course a Batman story that all others will be compared to for all time "The Dark Knight Returns". As I said before the DC offices are located right in NYC, when 9-11 happened Miller was in the middle of drawing his long awaited sequel "The Dark Knight Strikes Again". He had just recently drawn a scene in which one of Batman's associates crashed a plane in a skyscraper, so I'm sure it hit him pretty hard. He is currently writing a book called "All-Star Batman & Robin" which is kind of starting Batman from scratch, new mythos, etc.

Now he's decided to write this new graphic novel in which Batman will be taking on Al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden, entitled "Holy Terror, Batman". Miller calls it "Propoganda, where Batman kicks Al-Qaeda's ass" and makes a good point by saying "It just seems silly to chase around the Riddler when you've got Al Qaeda out there."

Although if Batman is unseccesful, you know Superman will 0wnzOr that mf'er. See now i'm thinking Batman, heck why not throw the whole Justice League after them? But, I think I understand how much more satisfying it will be be to see one dude, go in there and totaly fuck those guys up.

Osama your days are numbered!

Blast From the Past, Five Blade Prophecy

This an article from the Onion from at least 4 years ago, little did they know at the time that it would one day be true. I just got my Gillette Fusion with its Five Blades Shaving system, I'll give a review later. Now to hack my face off.

Would someone tell me how this happened? We were the fucking vanguard of shaving in this country. The Gillette Mach3 was the razor to own. Then the other guy came out with a three-blade razor. Were we scared? Hell, no. Because we hit back with a little thing called the Mach3Turbo. That's three blades and an aloe strip. For moisture. But you know what happened next? Shut up, I'm telling you what happened-the bastards went to four blades. Now we're standing around with our cocks in our hands, selling three blades and a strip. Moisture or no, suddenly we're the chumps. Well, fuck it. We're going to five blades.

Sure, we could go to four blades next, like the competition. That seems like the logical thing to do. After all, three worked out pretty well, and four is the next number after three. So let's play it safe. Let's make a thicker aloe strip and call it the Mach3SuperTurbo. Why innovate when we can follow? Oh, I know why: Because we're a business, that's why!

You think it's crazy? It is crazy. But I don't give a shit. From now on, we're the ones who have the edge in the multi-blade game. Are they the best a man can get? Fuck, no. Gillette is the best a man can get.

What part of this don't you understand? If two blades is good, and three blades is better, obviously five blades would make us the best fucking razor that ever existed. Comprende? We didn't claw our way to the top of the razor game by clinging to the two-blade industry standard. We got here by taking chances. Well, five blades is the biggest chance of all.

Here's the report from Engineering. Someone put it in the bathroom: I want to wipe my ass with it. They don't tell me what to invent-I tell them. And I'm telling them to stick two more blades in there. I don't care how. Make the blades so thin they're invisible. Put some on the handle. I don't care if they have to cram the fifth blade in perpendicular to the other four, just do it!

You're taking the "safety" part of "safety razor" too literally, grandma. Cut the strings and soar. Let's hit it. Let's roll. This is our chance to make razor history. Let's dream big. All you have to do is say that five blades can happen, and it will happen. If you aren't on board, then fuck you. And if you're on the board, then fuck you and your father. Hey, if I'm the only one who'll take risks, I'm sure as hell happy to hog all the glory when the five-blade razor becomes the shaving tool for the U.S. of "this is how we shave now" A.

People said we couldn't go to three. It'll cost a fortune to manufacture, they said. Well, we did it. Now some egghead in a lab is screaming "Five's crazy?" Well, perhaps he'd be more comfortable in the labs at Norelco, working on fucking electrics. Rotary blades, my white ass!

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe we should just ride in Bic's wake and make pens. Ha! Not on your fucking life! The day I shadow a penny-ante outfit like Bic is the day I leave the razor game for good, and that won't happen until the day I die!

The market? Listen, we make the market. All we have to do is put her out there with a little jingle. It's as easy as, "Hey, shaving with anything less than five blades is like scraping your beard off with a dull hatchet." Or "You'll be so smooth, I could snort lines off of your chin." Try "Your neck is going to be so friggin' soft, someone's gonna walk up and tie a goddamn Cub Scout kerchief under it."

I know what you're thinking now: What'll people say? Mew mew mew. Oh, no, what will people say?! Grow the fuck up. When you're on top, people talk. That's the price you pay for being on top. Which Gillette is, always has been, and forever shall be, Amen, five blades, sweet Jesus in heaven.

Stop. I just had a stroke of genius. Are you ready? Open your mouth, baby birds, cause Mama's about to drop you one sweet, fat nightcrawler. Here she comes: Put another aloe strip on that fucker, too. That's right. Five blades, two strips, and make the second one lather. You heard me-the second strip lathers. It's a whole new way to think about shaving. Don't question it. Don't say a word. Just key the music, and call the chorus girls, because we're on the edge-the razor's edge-and I feel like dancing.

Smoke Breaks.....*Sigh* Maybe Some Other Time

Ok I come clean, I really did want to do this post about my feelings on smoke breaks, I even wrote pretty much the whole thing, but I left it to goto work, and forgot to save it asa a draft, so all that ime spent was gone. And then I just didn't feel like addressing it anymore, having basically already written it. So now I just want to move on with my life and my blog.

Ghostbusters 3 and other Sequels find new home on Consoles?

Lately there's been some talk of the never made Ghostbuster 3 movie, they had a plot, possibly a script. Then I was thinking what is stopping them from doing it?

Well the actors are all getting kind of old and out of shape (Saw Harold Ramis recently, try to think of a overweight Egon), plus its been so long, but at least everyone's still alive. Then you have to get a studio behind it, get lots of money. But then I started thing...why does it have to be a movie. Why not make it a game? Now I know you think I'm crazy, but don't think of it as a normal game, make it like an interactive movie. Totally story driven, script, director from the original movies, voice acting by the original cast. Mostly story but throw in some interactive bits, and then have bits like driving the Ecto-1 to destinations, and a handful of ghost trappings, only has to be movie length 3 - 5 hours (or more if they have more), and then make it the price of a normal DVD $20 - $30. I feel it would sell like hotcakes.

Then I got to thinking some more...there are tons of movies or shows that could benefit from something like this. And think of how much money is saved by only having voice actors, and no sets or special effects its all done digitally. Games like Half-Life 2 have shown us we can finally do believable people with full range of acting on real time hardware, since prerendering everything wouldn't be as interactive (and more expensive). Also I apologize for this and any future technical jargon.

The recent game "The Warriors" which is a game based on a movie from 1979, and has been rated pretty well by most reviewers. This game is the best current example of something kind of similar to what I'm proposing. It adds to the story of the movie with original content, its done with good gameplay based on an old but quality movie, shows that with the proper quality and respect even old almost forgotten movies can be resurrected. Now start imagining if they can do this for more recent properties.

I've been trying to think of other properties that I myself would like to see and what style of game they could use. Just from looking at my DVD shelf I got, Daredevil done like Ultimate Spider-Man, Futurama just have regular episodes using the 3D game engine, with Quick Time Events for a bit of interactivity (I know they made a game of this but it sucked, Futurama is not an action game plain and simple, the show is comedy the game should be that), Independence Day, and Firefly/Serenity interactive episodes with some Ship flying or parts of it like a gun game for shootouts.

with systems like the Revolution I think its controller would be perfect for this kind of "game/movie" plus its like a remote so easy transition to interactive movies. Or instead of movie games, or at least an alternative to movie games, have them just be the movie with some game elements thrown in.

I use the word "game" loosely since in many cases I think just making episodes using a game engine with a little interactivity thrown in would be great, since their are fewer game mechanics to them they can make the ones they do have perfect. And again the games don't have to be long 2 - 3 hours and price them like DVDs. I think that is the most important part, because people will get sick of paying $50 or more for only movie length gameplay. I really think its an untapped market. Their are so many great franchises that I know I would like to see more stories of, and I think this would be a great way to continue. Or even new worlds and ideas, have a new venue other than making a HUGE movie or a HUGE game. Shows like Red vs. Blue have shown that things like this can make money, imagine if they appealed to a wider audience. Plus can anyone think of a better way we're going to see a Ghostbusters 3?

The Last Stand

Lets see the most immidiate thing I want to mention would be the X-Men 3:The Last Stand Trailer which was released last night. Pretty much most of my fears were quelled by seeing this, I was kind of worried with the new director, Nightcrawler not returning, movie being rushed out the door to be out before Superman. But Beast's makeup seems to look ok, after seeing the picture I kind of thought it was goofy, but in motion doesn't look top bad, but i wanna see him jumping, bounding, and swinging around like the agile Beast I know and love. Plus with Kelsey Grammers(probably spelled wrong) voice, as long as we get to see him hanging upsidedown with glasses on, I'm golden. We also got to see Angel in full winged glory, which looks a lot more solid than how I thought it would be, I no longer have any worries about that character. We see Magneto with a HUGE amount of mutants, looks like he's going for a Final Fight. Jean Grey is back, and very powerfully so, but not on our side. Beast is involved with the White House, as well as being a prominant X-Man. Storm has a new haircut. Cyclops is missing and doesn't have his glasses? Seems like he'd be easy to find. Oh well I'm stoked.

I know I'm late on the bandwagon, but I finally got to see Lost, and I'm lovin it. I'm gonna finish Season 1 soon, hopefully NBC will start replaying the episodes after their finale and then I'll watch Season 2. I could just buy them on iTunes but that would get expensive.

Also of note iTunes has added some new TV shows for download. Including Battlestar Gallactica, The Office, Law & Order, Monk, as well as many classics. I'd be checking them out but sice I'm now using Linux(SuSE Flavored) primarilly, so I cant use iTunes at the moment. But i'll probably switch over to XP to check them out soon.

Ummm...Suprise!

Hey everybody, just when I thhught I was done with this site, of course something started to bug me. I was all happy with it and got it working in everything. I was using Catherine's laptop to look at it, and she uses a higher resoluton on her comp than I do, I have a shitty monitor and can only go as high as 1024x768, so looking at the site its all the way to the left leaving a huge, gigantic white space....it looked really ugly and bugged the shit out of me.

So since I believe last Sat or Sun, I've been trying to get a way to redo the layout with the whole thing centered. Son of a bitch centering is annoying, something you'd think would be so simple, so obvious, has to be so difficult (or maybe it's just me). I looked at some other sites to see how they did it. One used tables, which I fucking hate. Because basically I create a box and in the box is a picture or text...technically whats inside it shouldn't be able to go outside the box...ever. But the shit wouldn't stay in there. Defying all logic driving me insane. So today I found a way to do it in my favorite way, CSS. I love style sheets. Got it all going. Makes me very happy, plus i think it makes it more spiffier.

Also I'm sure you noticed, the Archive link at the top, I've been trying to find a good way to add it, had a few ideas that were nifty but didn't work, I tried adding it to the menu, but Blogger doesn't create archive link pages anymore, just the monthly pages. Its like what good are the monthly pages if there's nowhere to get to them, since I don't believe in the Blogger sidebar. But found a way to do it pretty happy about it. So I guess those were pick-ups for Season 3.

So please enjoy Season 3...again...for the first time.

The Third Age

Thats right folks, the wait is over, TheYanni.Net Season 3 is here. I finally got it running in both Internet Explorer and Firefox exactly as I want it, took a little goofing around, but i got it. The Main area works, as do all te sections. The Cam section needs me to add content. And of course i tohught of some last minute things i want or need to add. I should have done it during pick-ups, but missed my opportunity. I need to add a link to the archives, an either on that page or the main page i want to add a search engine to search my posts.

This site is still pretty new so if any problems arrise let me know. I'd like to get all the kinks out now. But I think everything should work fine. The new design itself solves many of the problems i had with Season 2. And now I keep closing my eyes from tiredness in the middle of typing so i will take the hint.

W00t Season 3 rocks!
